About Your Coach
Neel Shah is an experienced sports management professional, ICF-certified Life Coach, educator and author. He has worked for over two decades on the development and commercialization of sport in North America, Asia, and Europe. In 2018, Shah established the Global Institute of Sports Business, where he currently serves as associate dean and head of counselling for one of India’s premier sports management education institutes.
Prior to setting up the Global Institute of Sports Business with India On Track, Shah was the Chief Executive Officer of DSK Shivajians FC and the Liverpool FC International Academy – DSK. Before stepping into professional club management, Shah served as the business director for Libero Sports. Preceding his move to India in 2009, Neel spent seven years with New York based Major League Soccer serving as the league’s director of fan development.
Shah received his bachelor’s degree in Business Economics with an emphasis in Sports Management from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a certificate in Economics from University College London. He then received his MBA in Sports Management from Seton Hall University.
Neel is a regular TEDx speaker and serves as visiting faculty and guest lecturer at several sports management education institutes.
He is a self-diagnosed “growth addict,” so when he is not consulting, teaching or coaching, you can find him at a retreat, attending a workshop, reading a personal development book or participating in a sharing circle. Neel’s mission is to connect the East and West through sport, education and spirituality.
My Journey
Growing up in the vibrant atmosphere of southern California in the 1980s, I was raised in a nurturing Indian culture, filled with support and encouragement. However, it also came with expectations of choosing a traditionally accepted career pathway and achieving financial success. As a teenager, I found myself grappling with conflicting advice about my future, which didn’t quite align with my true essence.
Fortunately, during this transformative period, I had an awakening. I discovered my passion, strengths, and purpose, and with unwavering conviction, I chose a career pathway that resonated deeply with my heart. This led me to the bustling streets of New York City, where I secured my ‘dream job’ with Major League Soccer—a pivotal moment that set the stage for a fulfilling and purpose-driven professional journey.
Throughout my career, I have embraced the philosophy of creating and pursuing professional opportunities that align with my core interests, strengths and aspirations. This approach has allowed me to serve in several leadership positions in both sports and education, spanning across North America and India. Working with exceptional teams, I have had the privilege of establishing impactful projects that make a positive difference in people’s lives.
My journey took a transformative turn when I decided to become a professional life coach. This incredible endeavor opened doors to work with individuals seeking clarity and positive shifts in their lives. I wholeheartedly believe that every individual has the power to live their dream life through self-awareness, courage, and aligned action. As a life coach, I am dedicated to supporting this empowering process for my clients.
